About the Awards

There are 5 areas in the main competition covering all aspects of the P-O-P market including digital media in retail (DMiR).

The pinnacle of the competition is the presentation of the Display of the Year Award given to both the best temporary entry and the best permanent entry from all categories.

How do I find out whether I have won?

By attending the awards ceremony:

WHEN: 26th October 2011

WHERE: The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Johannesburg

START TIME: 18:00

COST: R500 excl. VAT

Who can enter?

  • Any designer or producer of P-O-P material, agencies, brand owners, services companies and retailers.
  • The Awards are open to both POPAI members and non-members.
  • Go to awards.popai.co.za and fill in the entry submission. We will contact you shortly with the invoice for payment. Your entry is not considered until payment is received.

What can be entered?

  • Any display with a production run of 50 units or more (lower run for category 9) designed or manufactured by a South African producer for either an international or domestic customer may be entered. Displays designed or manufactured in South Africa for export are also eligible.
  • Entries must have been produced and shipped between 1st March 2010 and 1st August 2011. However, yearly programmes such as automotive campaigns scheduled for the 2011 model year are eligible.

Judging criteria

All entries are judged against the following criteria:
•    Marketing objectives and strategies
•    Quality of the case history
•    Design
•    Construction
•    Creativity
•    Use of retail space
•    Branding
•    Communicative value
•    Ability to drive sales or meet the objectives set by the client in the brief
•    Any other factor the judges determine that make the display stand out against the others in the same category
